What you’ll study

01Networking & Security Foundations

TCP/IP, routing concepts, DNS, common services, Linux basics, Windows fundamentals, security principles and threat models.

Practical work: Build and document an isolated virtual lab network.

02Security Operations & Hardening

Identity/access, endpoint hardening, logging, patching, firewall concepts, backup and baseline controls.

Practical work: Harden sample Windows/Linux hosts and produce a checklist.

03Ethical Hacking Methodology

Authorization, reconnaissance, scanning, enumeration, vulnerability assessment and evidence handling.

Practical work: Perform an authorized assessment against deliberately vulnerable lab systems.

04Web Application Security

HTTP, sessions, authentication, common web vulnerabilities, secure testing and remediation reporting.

Practical work: Test a purpose-built vulnerable web app and write remediation notes.

05Incident Response & SOC Skills

Alert triage, logs, indicators, containment, investigation workflow, phishing analysis and incident documentation.

Practical work: Investigate a simulated security incident from logs and evidence.

06Cloud & Identity Security

Cloud shared-responsibility concepts, IAM, storage exposure, secrets, configuration risk and zero-trust concepts.

Practical work: Review a simulated cloud configuration and produce a risk register.

07Governance, Risk & Security Communication

Risk assessment, policies, awareness, evidence, reporting, basic compliance concepts and executive communication.

Practical work: Create a small-business cyber risk and control plan.

08Capstone Purple-Team Exercise

Controlled attack/defence scenario, monitoring, remediation, final report and presentation.

Practical work: Complete an isolated end-to-end cyber assessment and defence capstone.
